10:50 AM GMT : The meet closes
Australian Swimming President Neil Martin closes the meet.
That brings our live coverage to an end. Check back on pullbuoy over the coming week for more reaction and pictures from a great weekend's swimming in Sydney.
10:43 AM GMT : Mills rounds off in style.
The final event of the night sees Alice Mills win the 50m butterfly from lane 2 in 26.21. The AIS swimmer produced a huge burst inside the final 5 metres to overhaul Marleen Veldhuis who had led all the way from the gun. Mills' winning margin was just 0.01s while Therese Alshammer completed the podium places.
10:38 AM GMT : Bal rolls on
Randall Bal of the US was another comfortable winner in the men's 200m backstroke. Bal was fast off the start and gradually built a lead through the race, working the walls and gaining at every turn. He came home in 1:52.59 just under a second clear of Russia's Arkady Vyatchanin and Lucas Salatta of Brazil.
10:31 AM GMT : Coughlin doubles up
Nathalie Coughlin touched out medley rival Kirsty Coventry buy 0.18s as she won the four length event in 1:00.60 to the Zimbabwean's 1:00.78. AS usual it was the American's dominance around the walls that made the difference, as she appeared to tie up in the closing stages but had engineered enough of a lead to hold off the fast finishing Coventry. Meanwhile Shayne Reese held off Libby Lenton on the final freestyle leg to take third.
10:24 AM GMT : Park the distance ace
Korean Tae-Hwan Park added the 1500m freestyle title to his earlier win in the 400m free coming home in 14.44.87, three seconds ahead of American Robert Margalis, who posted 14:47.55. Park had led all the way from the gun and had lapped much of the field by the finish. Trent Grimsey was first Australian home in third, well ahead of the more favoured Kurtis MacGillvary.

10:03 AM GMT : Jones on top again
Leisel Jones was a comfortable winner in the 200m breaststroke. Jones was never headed as she touched home in 2:21.93 well outside her own World Record. Fellow Aussie Sarah Katsoulis was second in 2:24.85, while Sally Foster, also Australian, came out on top of a titanic struggle with the Korean contingent for third.
09:55 AM GMT : Ten up for Ryk
Neethling made it ten on the trot as he just held on in the 50m free to win in 21.69. Brett Hawke looked set to overhaul the South African in the closing stages, but Neethling is made of stern stuff and reached out a long arm to take the touch. Hawke recorded 21.84 while a rejuvenated Ashley Callus was home in third with 21.87
09:49 AM GMT : Barratt holds on for win
The WR pace was too hot for the 16 year old Queenslander as she fell behind schedule steadily over the closing stages. She still took the win though as she posted 4:04.03, the third fastest all time Australian performance. Another teenager Ashley McCleery was just behind in second with Linda Mackenzie third.
09:46 AM GMT : Women's 400 free
Bronte Barratt takes out the 400m freestyle hard and is 0.04 under world record pace at the 150m
09:41 AM GMT : Double for Dean
Dean Kent took a IM double as he won the men's 200m event in 1:56.84. the new Zealander made the break on the field in the breaststroke section and then powered home in the freestyle leg to finish 1.38 seconds ahead of Brazils Lucas Sallata who touched out Adam Lucas by just one one hundredth of a second for the minor places.
09:36 AM GMT : belated birthday present for Schipper.
It was a two Australian horse race in the women's 200m butterfly, with Jessica Schipper taking her first win of the weekend in 2:05.48, just holding off teammate Felicity Galvez. Schipper turned 19 yesterday.
09:34 AM GMT : Coughlin makes it a double
Nathalie Coughlin won the 100m backstroke easily in a time of 57.56, well outside her world record but easily enough to held off Australian Tayliah Zimmer who posted 59.31 in seconds. As usual the American's underwater work was the difference as she moved away from the field on every turn.
09:31 AM GMT : Lara Carroll

09:29 AM GMT : Zoe Baker

09:27 AM GMT : Men's 50 Back
Peter Marshall won the 50m backstroke in 23.68 holding off a determined charge from Matt Welsh and Randall ball who took third and second respectively. The crowd held it's breath when it looked like Welsh had gone through the 15m underwater limit, but he surfaced just in time.
09:15 AM GMT : clean sweep for almeida
Brazilian Kaio Almeida completed a clean sweep of butterfly titles when he held off home town favourite Michael Klim in the final of the 100m. Klim had qualified fastest but showed his lack of butterfly training as he faded on the closing 25m, having challenged for the lead early on. Almeida produced a devastating display of underwater work off each wall to come home comfortably clear in 51.04, well ahead of second placed Nikolay Skvortsov of Russia, who got over the top of Klim in the last 5m.
09:10 AM GMT : Commonwealth Record for Lara Carroll
The West Australian knocked 0.82 seconds off Joanne Malar's existing record for teh 400IM, posting 4:34.08 to comfortably hold off Kirsty Coventry. The Zimbabwean ended up with 4:35.24, being unable to hold onto Carroll on the breaststroke and freestyle legs. New Zealander Helen Norfolk was the third placed finisher.
09:06 AM GMT : sprenger take 100m breast
Christian Sprenger upset his more heralded teammates Brenton Rickard and Jim Piper to take out the 100m breaststroke. Sprenger posted a time of 59.58 to touch out Rickard by just 0.31s.
08:52 AM GMT : Edmistone blasts through for win
World record holder Jade Edmistone held off Lesiel Jones and Zoe Baker to win the 50m breaststroke in a new world cup record of 30.13. Baker looked like she would challenege in the final 20m but faded right at the finish, coming home in 31.09 and being pipped by Liesel Jones in the final stroke. Jones posted a time of 31.05.
08:46 AM GMT : 9 from 9 for Neethling
The South African duly took his 9th win from 9 starts in this season's world cup, posting 1:43.97. Neethling clearly eased up over the closing stages, maybe saving himself for the 50m freestyle later tonight. Tae-Hwan Park of Korea took second with Germany's Stefan Herbst in third.
08:43 AM GMT : Men's 200 free
Ryk Neethling opens up quite a lead by half way in the 200m free - splitting 1:49.86, just 0.13 outside world record pace.
08:38 AM GMT : Lenton wins...again!
Lenton takes the win in 52.17, just outside her own world mark. She was under the required split by 0.01s at the 50m turn, but fell off the pace on the closing 25m. Veldhuis took second in 53.24 with Alice Mills moving up to number two all time Australian performer in third place, posting 53.28.
08:29 AM GMT : Lenton first up
Libby Lenton will make her first appearance tonight in the first event, the 100m freestyle. After her record breaking exploits last night, much is expected form the 20 year old Brisbane swimmer, but the 100m record is a much tougher proposition, having already received the Lenton treatment earlier this year. Surprisingly World and Olympic champion Jodie Henry failed to progress form the heats this morning, finishing only ninth so the biggest challenges are likely to come from second fastest qualifier Alice Mills and Marleen Veldhuis who is a potential outside smoker in lane 1.
08:07 AM GMT : Here we go again - Day 2
The second night of finals at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre is no just minutes away as the swimmers complete their final warm ups in the competition pool. All eyes will again be on Libby Lenton following her heroics last night, but Leisel Jones will also have an eye on a world record tonight. Zoe Baker will start as second fastest qualifier for the 50m breaststroke final behind world record holder Jade Edmistone
