ASA Long Course Championships 2002 - Day 3
There may have been complaints about the Coventry pool, but the Commonwealth team continued to dominate the finals on the last day of the championships. Some surprises along the way but on the whole a satisfactory three days for those swimmers who are Manchester bound. [more]

ASA Long Course Championships 2002 - Day 2
Normal service continued almost uninterrupted at tonights' finals session as the England commonwealth team members again produced solid if unspectacular swims in their final competition before Manchester. They didn't have it all their own way though and there were some surprising results as the session progressed. [more]

ASA Long Course Championships 2002 - Day 1
There were no great shocks on the first day of competition at the ASA Long Course Championships in Coventry, with most the expected winners coming through their respective finals. the times haven't been earth-shattering, but with only a few weeks to go until the games start, that was only to be expected as the England team conclude their preparations. Foster: Kidd is the only threat
Mark Foster continues his countdown to the Commonwealth Games, for the Cambridge Evening news
I WILL be defending my 50 metres freestyle and butterfly titles at the National Championships in Coventry this weekend -- but to be honest I see it mainly as providing some vital practice before next month's Commonwealth Games.

Eurpoean Short Course Champs Berlin 2002
LEN may not have published a full programme of events for the European short course, but they have produced an outline of the meet. Why is this important? Well the British Short Course Championships in September, which act as the trials for this meet, will exactly follow the LEN programme. More info as we get it.

Live results will be available on the web for the ASA long course championships - the last competition for many commonwealth competitors before the games start. The championships run from 28th to 30th June in Coventry.

More controversy over Canadian Games team
Following the recent reselection of the Canadian Commonwealth games swimming team, following an appeal against inconsitencies in teh selection policy, a second appeal against the original decision has resulted in further chanegs to the originally selected line up

English Team for Commonwealth Games
The England Aquatics team of 57 members has been formally announced by the Commonwealth Games Council for England. This compares to an England Aquatics squad of 52 at the last Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998 where EAD athletes were not incorporated.

Jenny Thompson to Make Comeback
JENNY Thompson, the most decorated female athlete in US Olympic history, is on the comeback trail. She has entered the Quebec Cup, to be held in Montreal, July 5-7.

New Zealand Announce Commonwealth Team
Swimming New Zealand have announed a team of 10 for the swimming events at the Commonwealth Games. Top medal hope will be Dean Kent - currently ranked 3rd over 400 IM - after a promising performance at the World Short Course earlier this year.

Golden Bear Long Course Meet
Two of England's 50m specialists continued their build up to Manchester 2002 by competing in the Golden Bear long course meet in Zagreb. Zoe Baker won the 50m Breastroke and Mark Foster took 2nd in the 50 fly and 3rd in the 50 free. [more]

Welsh Commonwealth Games Team
The Welsh ASA have announced the first phase of their Commonwealth Team selection, with the second set of swimmers to be picked following following the final selection event at the Grand Prix Final in Glasgow which took place last week. 4 swimmers have ben selected for individual events (Catrin Davies, Bethan Coole, David Davies and Owen Morgan) with a further 7 girls selected for the relay squad. Expect the remainder of the team to be announced soon.

Disability Sport England Long Course Nationals
These were held from 7th to 9th June at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. Most of the home nations' competitors for the EAD events at the Commonwealth games took part. 11 World and 4 European records were set at the meet.

Baker wins at Mare Nostrum Round 4
The sole British representatvie at the latest Mare Nostrum tour event in Barcelona, Zoe Baker, continued her Commonwealth Games build up with a win in the women's 50 breastroke. Other Commonwealth hopefuls were thin on the ground, although several of the South African team were also present at the meet.
