It was the greatest 1500m race in history. The first time 3 men had dipped under 14:50 at the same time and a stirring contest throughout as Grant Hackett, undefeated in 8 years, held off the challenge of the USA’s Larsen Jensen and Britain’s David Davies, who took a battling bronze medal.
