The US Olympic team has firmly staked its claim to be the number one squad at the forthcoming Olympics as a further three new world records were established at their Olympic Team Trials in Long Beach California.

Australian Leisel Jones showed that record breaking was not a purely American phenomenon as she took three one hundredths of a second off the 200m breaststroke world record at a meet in Queensland.

American Brendan Hansen wrote himself into the record books with a stunning world record of 59.30 in the 100m breaststroke final on the second day of the United States Olympic Trials.
