Caitlin McClatchey got Britain off to a great start in Montreal as she took a thrilling bronze medal in the women’s 400m freestyle. The Loughborough university swimmer qualified in 5th position for the final, but produced a well paced swim to improve her placing to the medal positions.
Britain’s European Junior Championships squad picked up the baton form their Youth Olympic Counterparts with an encouraging performance on the first day of competition in Budapest. Led by Hannah Miley in the 400IM, the team collected one silver and three bronze medals and qualified a host of swimmer for tomorrow nights finals with a host of personal best performances.

Britain’s Youth Olympians wrapped up a superb team performance on the final day of competition in Ligano, as their medal haul swelled to a grand total of 18, including an impressive 12 golds. Ellen Gandy and Lizzie Simmonds both took their 5th gold medals while Ceri Unwin took her 4th as the meet came to a close with Britain well on top of the medal table.
No doubt boosted by London’s 2012 success, the British squad at the European Youth Olympics secured another 4 medals on the penultimate day of competition in Ligano. Hatfield’s Ceri Unwin led the way talking her third gold of the event, while Lizzie Simmonds increased her personal haul to 4 golds.
