The week at trials in Glasgow was going quite well for Duncan Scott as the last evening session got underway. When you think about surprises at Britain’s Olympic trials, there are few that surpass the men’s’ 1500m. Many followers of British swimming would never even had heard of Tim Shuttleworth before that competition, but here he was swimming himself onto the Olympic team with a huge personal best and a maiden voyage beneath 15 minutes.
“It’s a dream come true for me, excited doesn’t add up to how I’m feeling right now” says Chloe Tutton, with a smile so wide that you get the impression it hasn’t left her face since the Olympic trials in Glasgow. And the City of Cardiff swimmer really is off to Rio.
While her teammates were in action in France, Siobhan Marie O’Connor was busy completing her final races before Rio at the Scottish National Championships in Glasgow over the weekend, with some fast swims at the Tollcross pool and recording some fine times in the process.
