The men’s 100m freestyle may have taken all the headlines on the third night of competition at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championship, but the swim of the day most probably came in the men’s 400 IM where Max Litchfield set a new British Record in securing his place in Paris, having overcome two years locked out of the sport in Britain.

The sprint freestyle men took centre stage on the third night of finals in London delivering a sensational showdown over 100m to conclude a successful day of competition that saw a nomination standard met in every Olympic event.

Ollie Morgan was the standout performer on the second night in London as he downed the British Record in the 100m backstroke, erasing Liam Tancock’s mark that had stood since he donned a shiny suit in 2009.
