No doubt boosted by London’s 2012 success, the British squad at the European Youth Olympics secured another 4 medals on the penultimate day of competition in Ligano. Hatfield’s Ceri Unwin led the way talking her third gold of the event, while Lizzie Simmonds increased her personal haul to 4 golds.

Lizzie Simmonds led the way for the British team at the European Youth Olympic Festival as she took two golds on the second night of finals. She was joined on the top step of the podium by Lauren Collins and the mixed 4x200m freestyle relay team, with all four victories coming in championship record times.

Britain again showed off its impressive junior swimming contingent at the European Youth Olympic Festival as the squad of 14 and 15 year olds bagged 5 medals on the first night of competition. The girls’ team was in the forefront in Ligano, Italy, taking 4 of the five medals including three gold.
