“It’s a dream come true for me, excited doesn’t add up to how I’m feeling right now” says Chloe Tutton, with a smile so wide that you get the impression it hasn’t left her face since the Olympic trials in Glasgow. And the City of Cardiff swimmer really is off to Rio.
While her teammates were in action in France, Siobhan Marie O’Connor was busy completing her final races before Rio at the Scottish National Championships in Glasgow over the weekend, with some fast swims at the Tollcross pool and recording some fine times in the process.
With the Rio Olympics just over a month away, six of Britain’s team ventured to the French Open in Vichy to complete their final racing preparations prior to rest and tapers and a trip to the British holding camp in Belo Horizonte in late July. And a successful trip to the continent it turned out to be.
Ben Proud continued his Rio preparations with a useful tune up at the Seven Hills meet in Rome over the weekend. The Plymouth swimmer took a strong gold in the 50m freestyle, with a swim of 22.08.
