In what is now becoming a customary early season hit out for Britain’s swimmers, a large contingent was once again in action at the Flanders Cup meet in Antwerp this weekend. As would be expected there was a large medal haul, but also some quick January swimming.

After an excellent year for Britain’s swimmers there’s any number of athletes who are in the frame for a swimmer of the year award – this video above highlights the main contenders for the male and female swimmer of the year.
“Money makes the world go round” to coin a phrase, while lottery money in particular has been a cornerstone of British sporting success over the last decade. As British Swimming announced how it is distributing its share of the lottery pot for 2015, there was disappointment for some while others were rewarded for their performances this year.
