“Money makes the world go round” to coin a phrase, while lottery money in particular has been a cornerstone of British sporting success over the last decade. As British Swimming announced how it is distributing its share of the lottery pot for 2015, there was disappointment for some while others were rewarded for their performances this year.
Mel Marshall of City of Derby picked up the top gong at the annual British Swimming Coaches Association awards in Leeds last night as she was named Coach of the Year on the back of a stellar 12 months for her young charge Adam Peaty.
Fresh from a successful Commonwealth Games for the home nations, British Swimming has named a team of 23 for the forthcoming European Championships in Berlin.
