The main contenders in the mens 100 breast all took it easy to move though to the semis. Look for some considerably faster times in tonight’s session.

Women’s 100 free heats

No big surprises in the Women’s 100 free with Sheppard, Brett Pickering et al all qualifying comfortably for the semi finals behind fastest qualifier Melanie Marshall. Look out for Hatfield’s Vicky Cook who should be expected to improve from her qualifying position of 13th tonight. Pullbuoy contributor Tara Hutt unfortunately swam 59.52 to miss out on the semis

Mens 200 free heats:

Having already failed to secure selection for the 400m, failing to make the final, Ed Sinclair’s miserable trials continued as he also failed to make the final of the 200m, also ruling himself out of a possible relay berth. James Salter led the way form fly specialist Steve Parry. All the other top names (Smith, Palmer and Faulkner) made it through. British Masters champion and world masters record holder Steve Mellor also kept alive his hopes of a place at the games, qualifying in 7th place
