Katie Shanahan won her second backstroke title of the week while Ed Mildred took his first ever on the fourth night of action in London.
Shanahan held off her Stirling teammate Holly McGill to win in 2:07.91, with McGill just a fraction behind in 2:08.20. Both ladies were well under the qualification standard, although only Shanahan can be certain of her spot until the selectors complete their deliberations.
Mildred meanwhile shook off his narrow loss to Duncan Scott over 200m butterfly to come out on top in the 100m. It was very tight with Jack brown just 0.07 behind the winning time of 50.80. That time was enough to guarantee the men’s medley relay team, and along with it both Mildred and Greg Butler their spots in Singapore.
Scott himself was busy taking top spot in the 200IM, although it was a routine swim for him to a winning time of 1:56.44 in an event he is preselected for. The drama came behind him as Matt Ward won the battle of the Scots with Evan Jones by 1:59.13 to 1:59.21.

In the women’s 50m butterfly there was a second swimmer with two titles in two days as Eva Okaro added the gold to her 50 free win yesterday. She posted a lifetime best of 26.19 which lifted her up to 3rd best all time GB performer.
The night’s other final saw Megan Barnes win the 400m freestyle in 4:12.66.
